If you board a horse, most of what you know about its week arrives by text, if it arrives at all. The farrier came, or did not. The vet gave something, and you are not sure what. The bill on the first has a line you do not recognize. None of this is the barn being careless. It is the barn being busy, with the records in a notebook, a group chat and the manager's head.
A barn that runs on StallWise gives you a portal instead of a phone call. Here is what you can expect to find there.
Your horse's timeline
Every health record logged in the barn shows on your horse's timeline: vaccinations, Coggins, farrier visits, deworming, medications, lab results, allergies and rehab plans, each with its next-due date. When a staff member dictates "Duke was off his feed, temp 101.2, gave a gram of bute," the barn owner confirms it and it becomes a health record, a vital sign and a medication on Duke's profile, with the original note attached.
Invoices you can read
Board invoices include the extras as they were logged, not as they were remembered. An extra ride on the 12th, a blanket change on the 19th and the clip before the clinic each appear as a dated line. You pay by card in the portal, into the barn's own account, and payment plans and year-end statements are handled there too.
Ask for a service, get a photo back
The barn publishes its own price list. You request a bath, an extra turnout or a hold for the farrier; it becomes a task for staff, a photo marks it done, and you get a text. The charge is added at the same moment, so there is no surprise on the first.
Lessons and bookings
Lessons, lesson packages, waiting lists and holiday closures are on one shared calendar, and you book from the portal. Family accounts let a parent manage more than one rider.
If you show
Every StallWise barn plan includes the ShowSafe Pro clearance calculator for show rulebooks. Because it reads the doses already logged on your horse, the barn can check where every medication stands before the trailer loads, with the rulebook's own document, page and line behind each answer. If your horse races, the barn can add the racing rulebooks. If your barn does not use StallWise, ShowSafe Pro is also sold on its own from $9.99 a month, and you can type the doses in yourself.
What you will not see
Role-based access and audit trails are built into StallWise rather than added later. Staff logins cannot see invoices or payments. Another boarder cannot see your horse. The barn decides what its portal shows, and the system keeps a record of who did what.
Read about StallWise for barns or what the client portal does. If your barn is not on it yet, the trial is 14 days with no card.
