An ambulatory equine veterinarian does the work of a clinic from a truck. The record, the charges, the drug log and the follow-up all happen somewhere with one bar of signal or none, and the paperwork gets finished at the kitchen table. Practice software adapted from small-animal clinics assumes a front desk. VetPro assumes the truck.
Open Field Visit once with signal, then drive
Before you leave, Field Visit loads today's route, each patient's summary and allergies, the owner's phone number and your charge catalog onto the phone. From then on the visit does not need a connection. Herd visits produce one invoice per owner, and trip fees are split the way you choose.
The scribe drafts the note. You sign it.
The ambient scribe listens to the exam and drafts all four SOAP sections. Nothing is saved until the veterinarian has read, edited and signed it. The audio is never kept; the signed note is the record. On iPhone, push-to-talk dictation goes into any SOAP section, and on desktop and Android Chrome there is a hands-free wake word.
It proposes. A person approves.
Signing a note, writing a prescription, ordering a lab or recording a vaccine creates a proposal: an invoice line priced from inventory, a stock deduction, a recheck task. In Charge Review, someone approves or dismisses each one with a reason. Missed charges are the most common way a practice underbills, and this is where they stop slipping off the desk unseen.
The parts an inspector asks about
Controlled prescriptions are logged automatically to an append-only log with a running balance. Counts and wastes need a witness, and the log exports to Excel for inspections. Inventory is received in lots and dispensed soonest-expiry first, tracked per location including each truck. EIA test records and Certificates of Veterinary Inspection are prefilled from the record and signed on screen.
For sport and racing practices
A prescription written in VetPro's Prescriptions Hub gets a Competition Drug Check. That check reads the same regulatory tables that drive ShowSafe Pro, live: USEF, FEI, HISA/HIWU, ARCI, the breed associations and every US state racing commission, each with the document, page and line cited. When a document changes and is re-transcribed, the next lookup in VetPro sees it. Nothing has to be synced. If the feed is unreachable, VetPro shows the last saved answer and marks it stale rather than guessing.
Getting paid
Pay Now on any invoice, or a text-to-pay link with no login. Payment plans run from 2 to 24 installments with reminders and auto-charge, and the money settles to your own Stripe account. Clients book against the hours you set, sign forms and read their horse's records in the portal.
Pricing and moving in
Solo is $149 a month for one veterinarian. Complete is $249 a month plus $129 for each additional veterinarian. Enterprise is $499 a month plus $129 per additional veterinarian, with your own branding. Every plan includes unlimited staff, a 14-day trial with no card, and month-to-month billing. The Data Import Wizard takes the export from AVImark, Cornerstone, HVMS, ImproMed, Pulse or DVMAX, or any spreadsheet. You rehearse the import in a sandbox before you commit, and it is free for every trial that converts.
